Workers told not to issue statements to the press on political situation

BANGALORE: KPCC President M. Mallikarjun Kharge has barred partymen from issuing statements to the press on the political situation in the State.

Mr. Kharge, who is now in Hyderabad attending the AICC session, has said that only Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and himself could make statements to the press.

Resignation

According to Congress sources, the AICC is likely to take a decision on January 24 regarding whether the Chief Minister should resign without facing the Assembly on January 27 or seek the vote of confidence in the Assembly on that day.

Mr. Dharam Singh has said that he will go by the decision of the Congress High Command.

Dissolution

Meanwhile, the State Samajwadi Party President and former Chief Minister S. Bangarappa has said that the Congress is contemplating the dissolution of the Assembly although Governor T.N. Chaturvedi has fixed the date for taking the vote of confidence on the floor of the Legislature.
