`His demise is a great loss to Dalits, Backward Classes'

GULBARGA: Leaders of various Dalit organisations and the International Buddhist Youth Organisation on Monday condoled the death of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Kanshi Ram. His demise was a great loss to Indian polity and Dalits, Backward Classes and minorities.

The Dalit leaders led by chairman of the Federation of the Dalit Organisations Shivaram Moga and the BSP district unit president Suryakant Nimbalkar were among those who participated in a prayer meeting.

They offered floral tributes to the portrait of Kanshi Ram who died in New Delhi in the early hours of Monday.

Uplift of Dalits

The Dalit organisations organised the prayer meeting in the lawns of the Dr. Ambedkar Statue near Jagat Circle. In the condolence meeting held later, the leaders highlighted the contribution of Kanshi Ram who had devoted his entire life for the uplift of the Dalit community and other oppressed sections and fought against the caste system.
