Meeting convened by Minister for Water Resources
Legal experts and legislators will meet at Dharwad on Wednesday to go into various aspects of the Kalasa-Banduri Nala project and defend its case before the Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal.
Minister for Water Resources, M.B. Patil, told reporters on the sidelines of his visit to Kankumbi village, Khanapur, on Tuesday, that the meeting would be held from 10 a.m. to noon.
During the meeting, legal experts in consultation with legislators will consider all issues to defend and protect the interests of the water-starved people of north Karnataka region.
He declined to say anything further as the matter was before the tribunal.
Mr. Patil assured the reporters that the State government was committed to protecting the interests of the people.
The Kalasa-Banduri Nala project and related irrigation projects, when implemented, will benefit towns and villages in four districts of North Karnataka; namely Dharwad, Gadag, Belgaum and Bagalkot.
