SHIMOGA: K. Puttappa, senior Congress leader and former president of the Shimoga City Municipal Council, died at the Manipal Hospital on Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He was 86. He is survived by his wife, five sons and four daughters. He was associated with several local organisations such as the City Cooperative Bank, Shimoga Housing Cooperative Society, Kote Marikamba Temple Samithi and Ramanna Shetty Park. He was the president of the Shimoga District Kurubara Sangh. His funeral in the evening here was largely attended by his friends and admirers.
