With shortage of labour and rains affecting work on the Cauvery IV Stage 2nd Phase thereby delaying the project, BWSSB Minister S. Suresh Kumar on Tuesday said the Board would conduct job fairs to recruit skilled labourers for the project.
The Minister, who held a meeting with senior officials of BWSSB, Public Works Department, State-owned technical agencies and contractors associations, to chalk out measures to expedite work on the project, said skilled workers from other States would also be deployed.
“We will train bar-bending workers to ensure more labour. Technical agencies and other government organisations have also assured us of deputing their workers for the project in a week's time,” the Minister said.
BWSSB Chairperson P.B. Ramamurthy, Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department S.C. Kuntiya, chairperson of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) Susheel Mantri, vice-president of the Builders Association of India M. Ramesh, general secretary of the Karnataka State Contractors Association D.Kempanna, officials of the Karnataka Land Army Corporation, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation and Public Works Department were present at the meeting.
