Teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), attached to the school at Shivaragudda in Mandya, took out a protest here on Thursday, opposing the Centre’s decision to deny them pension benefits.

They demanded ‘GPF-cum-pension scheme’ for JNV employees across the country.

Under the banner of All-India Navodaya Vidyalaya Staff Association, the teachers marched to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and submitted a memorandum to the Centre through Deputy Commissioner B.N. Krishnaiah. They demanded 10 per cent special allowance for non-teaching staff, and promotions and transparent transfer policy for employees.

The Union government should implement the Central Civil Service 1972 pension to all staff who joined before January 1, 2004. Nearly 20,000 employees of 600 JNVs across the country were not getting pension benefits, they said.
