The former Minister D.K. Shivakumar said here on Thursday that the Janata Dal (S) was fielding a candidate for the forthcoming byelection to the Lok Sabha to strengthen the BJP.

Mr. Shivakumar told presspersons that leaders of the Janata Dal (Secular) did not act on their assurances and were known for not keeping their word. He said the BJP had become strong in the State because of the dirty politics of the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Regarding the Lokayukta case against him, he said the supporters of Mr. Kumaraswamy had got a case registered against him. He reiterated that the property he bought when was a Minister was legal.
