JD(S) enters Facebook, Twitter, YouTube space

As part of its preparation to face the Assembly elections, which is scheduled in May, the Janata Dal (Secular) on Saturday launchedwww.jds.ind.inas its official website.

Besides the launch, the party has also set its footprint on social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

The JD(S) website has information about its leaders, especially the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and their contributions to the State and country.

The web page has videos of programmes on conventions organised by the party to reach out to various sections of society, photographs of events, news reports, candidates for the coming election, the party manifesto, besides a brief history of the party.

Mr. Kumaraswamy, who launched the website designed by the party’s IT wing, said it would help the party reach the e-savvy urban electorate, who are eager to learn more about the JD(S) and its contribution to the State, especially in urban pockets.

Darshan Deve Gowda, the man behind the website, said the IT wing had already reached out to over 2,000 software engineers.

“By tomorrow (Sunday), the party will be on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube,” he said.

Cauvery issue

Expressing regret over the Supreme Court’s directive to release 2.44 tmcft of water, he said Karnataka was always at the receiving end as far as the Cauvery issue is concerned.
