People term it poll preparation

The district unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) launched a two-day “padayatra” on Monday to highlight the plight of people, especially farmers, and register its protest against the inordinate delay in completing lift irrigation and drinking water projects, and “unbridled illegal sand extraction from the Vedavati, popularly known as Hagari. The padayatra began from Rupanagudi in Bellary taluk after a public meeting. A large number of party workers and supporters participated in the padadayatra, which was flagged off by the seer of Kalyanmath in Kammarchedu village. General secretary of the Janata Dal (Secular) Mundargi Nagaraj, and secretary of the party’s State unit of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes cell Meenahalli Thayanna spoke.
