Disappointed with the decision not to field him as the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate from Belur Assembly constituency, the former Rajya Sabha member H.K. Javare Gowda tendered his resignation from the party’s primary membership here on Thursday. With this, he has also given up the responsibilities as the president of the JD (S) Hassan district unit.

Mr. Gowda said he had submitted his resignation to the party’s State unit president H.D. Kumaraswamy. With his resignation, Mr. Gowda’s four-decade long association with the party has come to an end. “I am unhappy for not being chosen as the candidate from Belur, despite assurance from the party’s national president H.D. Deve Gowda,” he said. The JD(S) has issued the party ticket to K.S. Lingesh to contest from the constituency.
