It focussed on ahimsa and environment protection
MYSORE: It was a rally with a difference.
Organised by the Jain community, the focus was on ahimsa or non-violence and environment conservation.
Many Jains participated in the ahimsa rally here on Friday. They marched through the main thoroughfares holding placards with messages on ahimsa and environment protection.
“Birds and animals are ornaments of nature, we have no right to destroy them,” read one.
“Trees, water and mountains are nature's wealth, they help keep the Earth in good health,” read the other.
The rally was organised as part of a camp held to rededicate oneself to the core values of Jainism.
The procession from the Town Hall passed through K.R. Circle, Ayurvedic College Circle, Iriwin Road, Ashoka Road and ended at Mahaveer Bhavan on Chandragupta Road.
The camp is being attended by 750 members from across the country.
Discussions and discourses on environment protection, and non-violence and other teachings of Bhagavan Mahaveer are part of the camp.
