Bangalore: Three undertrials facing criminal charges lodged in Bangalore Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara have been found to be continuing with their criminal activities from the prison. The Basavanagudi police, who took the three into custody through a body warrant, valuables estimated at Rs. 1.5 lakh.
The accused — Jalaluddin Chandpasha alias Thopia (20) of Parvathipuram, Harshad Abdul Noor (20) of Mothinagar and Saleem Chandpasha (19) from Eerulli Street near Droupathamma Temple in Kalasipalya — are facing charges of robberies, burglaries, chain snatching, two-wheeler thefts and so on.
They had been remanded in judicial custody after they were arrested by the Cottonpet police. The police said the accused had been continuing their criminal activities in prison and following interrogation, a gold chain, a laptop and a two-wheeler were recovered from them.
A newborn baby was found abandoned on the pavement of Banasawadi Main Road near Fire Station here on Wednesday. Passersby handed over the girl child to the police. The baby is healthy and has no disability.
A case has been registered and the baby shifted to a private hospital, said an officer of Banasawadi police station.
A motorcycle-borne man snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 50,000 from a senior citizen in the Chandra Layout police station limits here Tuesday evening. According to the police, Swarnamma (60) of BCC Layout was returning from Sri Sathya Ganapathi Temple when he came from behind and snatched her chain before speeding away.
The Indiranagar police have arrested a habitual vehicle lifter and recovered two two-wheelers estimated at Rs. 75,000. A. Shehjan Anwar alias Babu (28) of Siddalingapura near Mysore, along with his friend Vinod, had allegedly stolen two-wheelers from Indiranagar. Vinod was reported to be absconding, said the police. The Silver Jubilee Park police arrested a person for allegedly stealing vehicles and recovered two cars and two two-wheelers estimated at Rs. 2.5 lakh. The accused has been identified as Ahmed Pasha (22) of Kalagunta village in Parvathipur Hosur in Tamil Nadu.
