Work on the proposed Central University, to be named after Tipu Sultan, should start at the earliest and without political interference, said the Indian Union Muslim League here on Tuesday.
Addressing presspersons, C. Ahmed Jamal, State Vice-President of the organisation, decried the attempts to tarnish the image of the freedom fighter. The organisations condemned the statements made by writers Chidananda Murthy and S.L. Byrappa, accusing them of dragging Tipu’s name in the muck.Convention
Meanwhile, Universal Welfare Forum (Uniwef) will be organise a convention, ‘Tipu Sultan – A Great Humanitarian’, on Thursday in the city to discuss the life and achievements of the freedom fighter.
Karnataka State President of Uniwef Rafiuddin Kudroli said communal forces were trying to malign the name of Tipu.
