In a circular dated on March 1, Goa State government officials have been advised against using the honorific ‘His Excellency’ while addressing the Governor, as per his wishes.

The circular, issued by Gurudas P. Pilarnekar, Joint Secretary, Government Administration, has said that Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo has suggested that he be addressed as ‘Honourable Governor’ or the Hindi equivalent ‘Rajyapal Mahoday’ instead.

The copies of the GA circular have been marked to all government secretaries, personal secretaries to Ministers, heads of departments, as well as autonomous bodies, corporations and boards.
