Cinepolis, the five-screen multiplex in City Centre Mall, has obtained various approvals to begin operation in the Mangalore, said S.M. Arshad, Managing Director of Mohtisham Complexes Pvt Ltd, the promoter of the mall. He was speaking at a press meet to announce the introduction of Cinepolis, an international multiplex chain in Mangalore, on Tuesday.

There were five violations for which the multiplex was flagged. These included construction of a ramp, an upper floor, a car parking, and fire clearance. “There were no building violations, only technical and administrative issues,” he said. Dharmaraj, Chief Executive Officer, Mohtisham Complexes, said Rs. 120 crore to Rs. 125 crore had been invested in the multiplex. The mall gets an average footfall of 25,000 on a weekday and 65,000 on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). On Independence Day, it got a footfall of 87,000.Devang D. Sampat, Head (Strategic Initiatives), Cinepolis, said the multiplex would offer VIP seats. These would be sofa seats and the last two rows will be recliners.
