MANGALORE: The Hindu Business Line Club held its first programme in the city here on Saturday.

A talk by General Manager of Corporation Bank B.R. Bhat was organised at Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial Besants Postgraduate Institute of Management Studies in Bondel here.

Mr. Bhat said Information Technology-driven functioning of banks has started showing results in improved profitability, time management and quick service.

Owing to IT-enabled technology, banks are now in a position to maintain records of customers at a centralised location, which is electronically accessible, and to quickly and more accurately generate regular reports and specialised customer profiles. The movement of financial data among banks, between banks and their clients and among people is likely to become more fast, efficient and less prone to errors than ever before, Mr. Bhat said.

Regional Manager of The Hindu in Mangalore T. Ravi welcomed the gathering. Assistant Regional Manager K.B. Monnappa introduced the guest speaker. Director of the MSNM Besant Postgraduate Institute of Management Studies M.P. Hrishikesh was present.
