Bangalore: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has announced scholarships for children of police constables, autorickshaw drivers, railway porters and pourakarmikas.
A press release said the ISKCON Scholarship Fund has been created to help these children pursue higher education.
“Right now, one of our patrons has committed a seed fund of Rs. 10 lakh. We plan to increase this fund to Rs. 1 crore every year,” said Madhu Pandit Das, president, ISKCON. He added that the fund was not a corpus, but would be raised every year. “The entire amount will be disbursed to help deserving students.”
