Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), which inaugurated the 45th free nitrogen filling facility at its outlet at BTM Layout here recently, plans to extend the facility to 25 more outlets.

The BTM Layout facility was inaugurated by Subhajit Gosh, chief manager (retail sales) of IOCL, Karnataka. Free nitrogen filling is available for customers who fill fuel for more than Rs. 1,000.

Benefits

Nitrogen is believed to be a superior substitute to air that is traditionally used to fill tyres of various vehicles. According to a release, the nitrogen prevents rusting on rims, tyre overheating, and helps in better mileage, driving comfort and maintaining consistent tyre pressure.

Besides, with nitrogen, the tyre pressure need not be checked for at least four months.

“It takes about half an hour for us to completely exhaust the air in the tyre and refill it with nitrogen,” said personnel at an IOC outlet.

Outlets

Currently, the 45 IOCL outlets offering free nitrogen are in Bangalore, Kolar, Chickaballapur, Ramanagaram, Mandya and Mysore. The facility would be extended to Tumkur too.

In Bangalore, it is available at Koramangala, K.R. Puram, J.P. Nagar, Jayanagar, Bannerghatta Road, Raja Rammohun Roy Road, Indiranagar, Silk Board Junction, BTM Layout, Kanakapura Road, HSR Layout and St. Mark's Road.

Among those present at the inauguration were G. Ramesh, Chief Divisional Retail Sales Manager, IOCL and T. Palanikumar, Senior Manager (RS).
