The aim was to help investors obtain clearances

Reliance Industries Ltd. has come forward to set up a 2 x 400 MW gas-based power plant in Bidar district for which the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has initiated steps to acquire 195.29 acres of land at Dhumannsur village in Humnabad taluk.

This was revealed at a meeting of investors in Bidar on Saturday in which the organisations that had signed memorandums of understanding with the State Government during the Global Investors Meet (GIM) held in Bangalore last year participated. Saturday's meet was organised by the Hyderabad Karnataka Area Development Board.

Objective

The primary objective of the meet was to understand the difficulties being faced by investors in starting their ventures and to extend help in obtaining clearances from various departments.

Other projects

Official sources here said on Saturday that Saheli Export Pvt. Ltd. had come forward to establish a 70 MW gas-based power plant in Bidar district and another investor had proposed to set up a 5 MW solar power plant there.

Work on the proposed steel rolling mills and graph paper industries would commence in May. Hyderabad-based Kamineni Health Services had evinced interest in establishing a super-speciality, 1,500-bed hospital in Bidar. It would have 22 super-speciality services.

The Government had sanctioned five acres of land for the hospital in Bidar, sources said.

The meet was chaired by the Hyderabad Karnataka Area Development Board Chairman Amarnath Patil.
