MYSORE: The Google Internet Bus rolled into the city of palaces on Sunday as part of the Karnataka leg of its tour. The Internet Bus Project attempts to popularise the use of the Internet among people especially in rural areas.

Personnel associated with the project said that they were overwhelmed by the response from the public so far. The customised bus will reach Bangalore before covering Hassan, Ariskere, Shimoga, Bhadravathi, Chikkamagalur, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hubli-Dharwad and Belgaum. The bus will be stationed in Mysore till late on Monday night. The bus is equipped with computer terminals, is Internet-enabled and has customised information to educate the public on accessing information and data, email and social networking sites among other features.

The Internet bus will be in Karnataka till the end of June and it will cover 15 towns. The route map of the Internet bus can be tracked on http://www.google.co.in/intl/en/landing/internetbus/.
