The Udupi Consumers’ Forum would organise an interaction meeting on linking Aadhaar with LPG subsidy at the Janata Bhavan in the Board High School premises here at 3.30 p.m. on September 21.

Convener of the forum K. Damodar Aithal said that Udupi district would come under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for LPG cylinders from October 1 and the subsidy will get deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries who have the unique identity numbers.

However, many people in the district did not have either the Aadhaar card or the National Population Register (NPR) card, and there are apprehensions that they will be denied the subsidy.

The meeting will discuss the matter threadbare. Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Posts, Lead Manager of Syndicate bank and the local MLA Pramod Madhwaraj, have been invited to the meeting.

Officials of the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) will also participate in the meeting, Mr. Aithal said in a release.
