BANGALORE: Manipal Inspector of Police H.D. Kulkarni on Friday petitioned the Karnataka High Court against a February 9, 2009 order of the Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) quashing the transfer of B. Ganapathi Acharya from Manipal to Chamarajanagar. In his petition, Mr. Kulkarni said he had been working with the Coast Guard when he was transferred to Manipal in place of Mr. Acharya, who had been transferred to Chamundeshwari Electric Company (CHESCOM), Chamarajnagar. Mr. Acharya had moved the KAT against his transfer. In his application before the KAT, Mr. Acharya had accused Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat of trying to interfere in the investigations in the sensational Padmapriya suicide case. Padmapriya, wife of Mr. Bhat, had committed suicide in an apartment at Delhi and Mr. Bhat wanted the police to implicate Atul Rao in the case. The KAT had allowed the application and struck down the transfer of Mr. Acharya. Mr. Kulkarni said, if the KAT order were to be implemented, he would be left without any posting.
