UDUPI: Members of the Karnataka Janapara Vedike staged a demonstration in front of the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) here on Saturday seeking a high-level inquiry into what they termed irregularities in works taken up by the CMC.

In a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner here, the vedike said the CMC had failed to remove silt from storm-water drains, which had created a lot of problem for the people. The Kalsank-Gundibail road had been closed for the laying of underground drainage pipes for many days.

There were irregularities in works undertaken by the CMC, the vedike said and alleged that drinking water supply in the city was erratic.
