The Zilla Nagarika Hitarakshana Vedike has sought an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of funds in the zilla panchayat.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, vedike president Kota Ramalinga Reddy said the State government had released Rs. 3.6 crore to tackle drinking water problem in the district. But, the officials concerned misused funds by creating false bills and purchasing low quality equipment, he alleged.

Mr. Reddy said funds were also misused while purchasing materials for the Department of AYUSH, cameras for taluk panchayat offices, solar water heaters and in renovation of the zilla panchayat auditorium.

“The authorities had ordered for purchase of cameras for taluk panchayat offices from a blacklisted company.” The members said the Nirmiti Kendra that had taken up the responsibility of renovating the zilla panchayat auditorium had purchased low quality chairs.
