Injury marks on a stray cow triggered tension among people at Janata Bazaar here on Saturday. Passersby found an injured cow lying next to a shop in a commercial complex near Janata Bazaar. Rumours spread that acid had been thrown on the cow, as similar incidents had been reported over the past few days. Soon, the police arrived and checked the wounds, which indicated an injury caused while crossing a fence. The police search for the probable site where the cow sustained injury ended at Idgah Maidan, where blood stains were found near the broken edges of the steel fence. The police concluded that the cow might have wounded itself while trying to clear the fence. It was shifted to a veterinary hospital for treatment. Police Commissioner B.A. Padmanayan announced a reward of Rs. 10,000 for anyone who provide information about persons who threw acid on stray cattle in the last few days.
