Governor of Goa Bharat Vir Wanchoo said that India epitomises the very essence of unity in diversity.

The Governor was speaking at a function of bi-centenary thanksgiving service of the Bible Society of India Bombay Auxiliary (Maharashtra & Goa) at Methodist Church, Campal in the city on Sunday.

Bishop Elia Pradeep Samuel, president of the Bombay Auxiliary of the Bible Society of India Victor Gollapalli, Auxiliary Secretary Paul Rayappa, priests and others were present.

In this ancient and holy land of ours, we have almost all the living faiths – Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism, and many other faiths.

Our entire country shares this proud heritage of cultural integration, social solidarity and spiritual harmony, observed Mr. Wanchoo.

“Today, unlike any other time in the past, our country needs individuals and organisations willing to protect and promote these ideals for the well being of the people,” said Mr. Wanchoo.
