Bangalore: The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has said that the strike by transporters is causing “great inconvenience” to the public, industry and trade. A statement issued by the FKCCI noted that there is merit in the contention that the landed cost of fuel be on a par with levels prevailing in neighbouring States. It urged the State Government to “discuss” the issue with the Centre. It urged that the issue of the imposition of service tax on transport operators be “examined in the light of the unabated rise in inflation”. — Special Correspondent
