Bijapur: Ramesh Jigajinagi, MP, has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have done injustice to the Dalits by not including MLAs belonging to the backward communities in the party’s core committee.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, he alleged that the party leaders had not included MLAs belonging to the backward communities in the core committee. He said it was done deliberately though there were several MLAs who could have been included in the core committee. Angered by the move, the Dalits have decided to convene a meeting of their leaders to express their dissatisfaction, Mr. Jigajinagi said.

“Like other political parties, the BJP is also using them merely as vote banks to come to power and deprive them of their right to share power. If the same situation continued, the Dalits may stop supporting BJP and switch over to other parties”, he added.

In reply to a query whether he would lead the Dalits in their protest against the BJP’s move, Mr. Jigajinagi said that he would not convene any meeting to decide on the future course of action. “If the Dalits convene a meeting on their own and invite me I will definitely go and attend”, he added.
