Members of the Osmania Vegetable Market Welfare Association took out a procession and staged a dharna here on Friday demanding that the Raichur City Municipal Council improve facilities at the market.

Business at the vegetable market was suspended owing to the protest. The protesters went in a procession from the vegetable market to the CMC where they staged the dharna. They submitted a memorandum to the CMC president and urged him to act on their demands.

N. Mahaveer, president of the association, said that the authorities had not taken any action to improve facilities, though the association had staged several protests and submitted memorandums in the past, he said.
