Congress workers staged a dharna outside the corporation office here on Wednesday, demanding that President's Rule be imposed in the State. Congress workers, led by Youth Congress leader Dinesh K. Shetty and general secretary D. Basavaraj, later submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, in which they said that over 130 taluks in the State were facing drought and there were serious drinking water shortage in hundreds of villages. Besides this, there was serious power shortage in the state, the Congress said.

Congress workers said that Ministers instead of focussing on drought relief works were engaged in petty politics. They alleged administration had come to a standstill in the State owing to internal squabbles in the BJP.
