Demanding implementation of Justice A.J. Sadashiva Committee Report, the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samiti will take out a rally from Banappa Park to the Vidhana Soudha on January 16. A State-level convention has also been organised on the same day at Freedom Park at 3 p.m.

The Sadashiva Committee, in its report submitted during June 2012, had favoured providing internal reservation by broadly classifying the 101 sub-castes within the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the State in four groups.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, samiti’s State president N. Murthy said although the commission had submitted its report in June 2012, the government was still dragging its feet regarding its implementation.

Mr. Murthy urged the government to implement the recommendation submitted by the committee immediately. The other demands include increase in reservation facilities based on the population of the various castes from 15 per cent to 25 per cent, reservation in private sector for those belonging to ST communities, allocation of 25 per cent funds for the development of SC, ST communities.
