Bangalore: The Justice Rangnath Mishra Commission report, recommending 10 per cent reservation for Muslims, should be implemented without further delay, said Lok Janashakti Party general secretary Abdul Khaliq.
Mr. Khaliq told presspersons here on Friday that Dalits and minorities have a poor representation both in high echelons of bureaucracy and in the private sector. Reservation should be extended to the private sector as well.
There was not a single Dalit among 88 Principal Secretaries at the Centre and just one Dalit among 68 Additional Secretaries. Conviction rate of cases booked under the Schedule Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act is less than 1 per cent. All governments speak of uplift of Dalits and poor, but more than 70 per cent of the population in India does not get one square meal a day, he added.
