Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan has called upon panchayat development officers, gram panchayat (GP) secretaries, GP presidents, health activists (ASHA) and anganwadi workers to work for effective implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) schemes to bring about development in villages.

He was speaking after inaugurating a taluk-level workshop on MGNREGA scheme implementation at J.H. Patel Bhavan here on Thursday.

He those who successfully implement the Centrally-sponsored scheme would be recognised and honoured.

The MP said Chamarajanagar district was ranked 23rd in the State in terms of implementation of MGNREGA scheme. Dharwad was ranked first, he said. He called upon PDOs and others officers to strive to improve the district’s position in terms of implementation of the scheme.

He assured Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) that he would make efforts to get their honorarium increased as they were responsible for the Chamarajanagar district being ranked second in terms of implementing National Rural Health Mission schemes.
