Overall pass percentage down by 4.33 from last year
Dharwad district, which carries the tag of an educational centre, has fared badly in the II PU examination, the results of which were announced on Tuesday.
The overall pass percentage in district has come down by 4.33.
Last year's result
Last year, the district recorded a pass percentage of 59.34, and was placed 17th in the State.
However, this year it recorded a pass percentage of 55.01, pushing it to the 19th place.
According to Deputy Director of Pre-University Education (DDPU) Ravindra Ritti, 16,325 students from all the three streams wrote the examination.
The silver lining was that the pass percentage in the Science stream improved.
Of the 5,565 students from the Science stream who wrote the examination, 3,702 passed, bringing the pass percentage to 66.52.
Of the 4,390 students from the Commerce stream who wrote the examination, 2,300 passed, with the pass percentage being 52.39.
Of the 6,370 Arts students who wrote the examination, only 2,979 passed, and the pass percentage was 46.77.
Vidyaniketan PU College, Hubli, emerged on top in the Science stream in the district with a pass percentage of 99.3. RLS Commerce College, Dharwad, secured the first place in Commerce with a pass percentage of 97.
In the Arts stream, Galagihulikoppa College in Kalghatagi taluk emerged on top with a pass percentage of 93.3.
