Identify land for ultra mega power project, State told

A Central team of officials has asked the State to identity nearly 700 acres of land near Niddodi in Mangalore taluk for implementing the proposed 4,000 MW ultra mega power project.

Disclosing this during the zero hour in the Legislative Council on Wednesday, Leader of the House and IT & BT Minister S.R. Patil said that the Central team visited Niddodi on May 16. In its inspection report sent to the State on June 19, the Central team suggested, among others, identifying an additional 250 acres of land about 10 km away from the proposed power plant and another 100 acres of land for locating the township, he said.
