The State Government has approved a project to give facelift to Huligamma Temple at Huligi village in Koppal district and for setting up basic infrastructural facilities for devotees visiting the place.

The State Government gave its nod to the Rs. 150-crore project to renovate the temple and take up construction of guest houses and dormitories.

The outgoing Deputy Commissioner K.S. Satyamurthy had sent a proposal to the Government to improve the facilities at the temple to the State Government. Based on the proposal, the State Government deputed teams to prepare a detailed project report on the facilities available at the temple.

The team submitted a proposal to acquire 30 acres of land around the temple to give a facelift to and taking up construction of guest houses, dormitories and parking spaces.

Official sources said on Friday that the State Government had decided to take up the renovation work over a period of five years. The Government had also decided to release Rs. 30 crore every year for the purpose.
