With the old KSRTC Bus Station in Dharwad being demolished to facilitate construction of hi-tech BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) bus stand, the police commissionerate has proposed alternative routes for the public transport to ease traffic congestion.

The Police Commissioner Ravindra Prasad has announced that the notification on the new routes and related guidelines would be issued on May 5.

Buses coming from Hubli will have to move via Court Circle, Jubilee Circle, Bus Stand Circle, CSI College Road, Line Bazar, Hanuman Temple, Sangam Circle and NTTF to return to Hubli while a few buses will return to Hubli via Court Circle.

Buses coming from Kalghatagi will have to move via Court Circle, Bhagini Samaj Cross and Jubilee Circle. Express buses from Haliyal will move to New Bus Stand via Dasanakoppa Circle, while ordinary buses will move to Bus Stand Circle and Jubilee Circle.

Buses from Belgaum will move via High Court and halt at New Bus Station and return to Belgaum from there.

Sub-urban buses from Alnavar and Belgaum side will have to move via DIMHANS, DySP Office, Nayak Adde Cross, Corporation Circle, Bus Stand Circle and Jubilee Circle and return on the same route. High Court will have to move via Bus Stand Circle and Jubilee Circle, while express buses will move to New Bus Station. General and express buses from Alnavar will have to move via Kelageri, Sadhanakeri, German Hospital, SP Office, New Bus Station and follow the same route for return journey.

Express buses coming from Savadatti and Navalgund will be allowed to move via Shivaji Circle, Old DySP Office, DIMHANS, SP Office and New Bus Station.

The general and suburban buses from Savadatti will have to move via Depot Circle, Gollara Oni Cross, Usukina Adde, Mallasajjana Vyayamashale and Shivaji Circle.

And buses from Uppina Betageri will be allowed upto Mallasajjana Vyayamashale while general and suburban buses from Hebballi and Navalgund will be allowed only upto Shivaji Circle.
