Bangalore: To mark World Diabetes Day, several city hospitals and organisations involved in diabetes care are organising awareness programmes, free check-ups and walks in the city on November 14.
Novo Nordisk, an organisation involved in diabetes care, has organised a “Diabetes Walk” in the city which will start from Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association in Cubbon Park at 8 a.m.
According to the organisers, the walk would focus on key issues in the wake of the rising prevalence of diabetes in India.
A blood sugar camp has also been arranged.
The Centre for Diabetes at Sagar Hospitals, Jayanagar, will have a day-long awareness programme called “Living With Diabetes” on the hospital premises on that day.
The programme, to be held between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., will include exhibitions, diabetes food court, health drink, diabetes footcare, audio visual presentations on diabetes awareness and distribution of patient education materials apart from various tests to “Know Your Risk.”
While Manipal Hospital has announced a comprehensive diabetic package to mark the day, Abbott Diabetes Care is organising a free check-up and consultation camp.
The Chinmaya Mission Hospital is organising a free diabetes screening and patient education camp on November 14.
It will be held on the Hospital premises, Indiranagar, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
