Bidar: The Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samiti will organise a conference of its activists in Bidar on June 19.
“We will decide on the future of our agitation at the conference,” president of the samiti and former Minister Vaijnath Patil told presspersons in Bidar on Monday.
“The Union Government has not acted on the State Legislative Assembly's unanimous resolution demanding amendment to Article 371 of the Constitution to provide special status to Hyderabad Karnataka region. If the UPA Government does not act on the issue quickly, we will have no alternative but to demand a separate State,” Mr. Patil said.
The samiti will hold a conference of its activists in Gulbarga on June 13. D.B. Chandre Gowda, MP, and Keshavrao Jadhav from Andhra Pradesh, who is among the leaders in the forefront of the agitation demanding statehood for Telangana, will speak at the conference.
The samiti would hold similar conferences in other districts of Hyderabad Karnataka region, he added.
