GULBARGA: The Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samiti (HKHS) on Sunday decided to boycott the Rajyotsava Day celebrations on November 1 in Gulbarga city and block stop trains at the Gulbarga Railway Station to protest against the Centre’s failure to concede the longstanding demand for amendment of Article 371 of the Constitution.

Talking to presspersons here, HKHS president Vaijnath Patil, secretary Hanumanthrao Desai, former vice-president of the Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat Subash Rathod, and zilla panchayat member Suresh Sajjan declared that after boycotting the celebrations, they would hoist the HKHS flag on the Hindi Prachar Sabha complex.Later, Mr. Patil said the samiti leaders and workers would lead a procession to the Gulbarga Railway Station to block the movement of trains. Initially, the samiti had planned to take a delegation of leaders of the region to New Delhi to hold protest demonstrations in front of Parliament on November 1. However, he said the proposal was given up at the last minute for the reason that the Parliament session had been adjourned.
