Eight constables to be felicitated today

They’ll get ‘knights in khaki’ title

It is for their outstanding work

MYSORE: Eight police constables of Mysore city and district police will receive the “knights in khaki” title for their outstanding police work, at a function here on Saturday.

Understanding that police constables receive little recognition for their work, the Mysore Round Table-21 and the Mysore Ladies Circle-9 are felicitating the deserving police constables with the title at Hotel Regaalis at 4.30 p.m.

City Police Commissioner Ravindranath and Superintendent of Police Rama Subba will be the chief guests. The organisers felicitate police constables every year with the title considering their service.

The constables from Mysore city police selected for this year’s award are G.V. Raju, head constable, Narasimharaja Police Station (best law and order), U. Umesh, police constable, City Crime Branch (best in the prevention of crime), M. Puttalinga Nayak, head constable, Devaraja Traffic Police Station (best traffic) and Margaret Mary, police constable, Mahila Police Station (best woman police).

Rachappa, head constable, Badanavalu police station, M. Babu, assistant head constable, DAR, Mysore, K.G. Veena, police constable, Kawalande police station, and S.P. Suresh, police constable, Hunsur town police station, are those from the district police selected for the award.

Incidentally, the Ladies Circle India has adopted the concept of “knights in khaki” at the national level.
