Poet-writer and Jnanpith Award recipient Chandrashekar Kambar has stressed the need to honour film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar for his contribution to various fields.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Nagathihalli, Namma Nelada Balli’, a programme on Mr. Chandrashekar’s contribution to literature, at Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kalamandir here on Friday.

Recounting Mr. Chandrashekar’s involvement in literature and the Kannada film industry, Mr. Kambara said: “Nagathihalli Chandrashekar is a great storywriter. However, he has not received suitable status.”

Kannada Development Authority Chairman Mukhyamantri Chandru, Kannada writers G.T. Veerappa, D. Krishne Gowda and H.L. Keshava Murthy, and district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Meera Shivalingaiah were present.
