Mysore: Renowned Hindustani musician Ustad Hussain Sayeeduddin Dagar was conferred the title “Nada Nidhi” by Datta Peetha here on Wednesday.

The title was conferred by Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji on the maestro who belongs to the unbroken lineage of the illustrious Dagar family of Drupad music. A release said Sayeeduddin Dagar represented the 19th generation in this tradition of music.

He is the son of late Ustad Hussainuddin Khan Dagar and has kept alive the tradition of singing along with his brothers.

Sayeeduddin Dagar began learning Dhrupad form of music from the age of six and was trained extensively by his uncle Ustad Raheemuddin Khan Dagar.

The Swamiji heaped praise on the devotion of Sayeeduddin Dagar towards classical music.

The title carries a plaque, a citation, Rs. 25,000 in cash and a shawl.
