GULBARGA: Spurthi Joshi (13), an 8th standard student of the Maharshi Vidya Mandir in Gulbarga, will represent India in the International Mental Arithmetic Competition to be held in Malaysia in November this year.

According to Rachana Swapnil Mehta of the Mehta Abacus Centre here, Ms. Joshi was declared winner in the 6th term of Universal Concept Mental Arithmatic System (UCMAS) in the 8th All India UCMAS Mental Arithmetic Competition that was held in Chennai on July 13.

She would be one among the five participants representing India in the international competition at Malaysia.

Ms. Mehta said that Ms. Joshi had emerged winner in a contest in which more than 2,600 students from more than 600 centres in the country vied for the honours. Some more students of the Mehta Abacus centre in the city fared wellin the contest, she said.
