Encourage Kannada films, Minister tells people

Actor Ananth Nag has underscored the need for organising sahitya sammelan in the border areas of the State every year. Inaugurating the Vishwa Kannada Sammelan Film Festival at Chandana cinema here on Wednesday, he urged the Government to conduct literary meets in the border towns and cities, including Bidar, Chamarajanagar and Karwar to strengthen Kannada language and culture.

Actor Tara said that the Government had taken several steps to support the development of the Kannada film industry. She said that the Kannada film industry would participate in the three-day sammelan.

Kannada and Culture Minister Govind M. Karjol urged the people to encourage Kannada films.

Agriculture Minister and district in-charge Umesh V. Katti, MP Suresh C. Angadi, sammelan reception committee chairman Prabhakar B. Kore, MLA Abhay Kumar Patil, MLA Sanjay Patil, MLA Feroz Sait, MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath, and Karnataka Forest Industries Development Corporation chairman Shankargouda Patil were among those present.
