A cook on his way to a wedding venue was killed in a hit-and-run while crossing the road in front of Atithi Tech Park on Ramana Maharshi Road (Bellary Road) here in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Sadashiva Nagar traffic police said that Kishore Kumar (31), a native of Bihar, was hit by a car at 1.45 a.m. when he was going to the Palace Grounds with his colleague Bharun Mandal Lal to cook food for a wedding party.

His horrified colleague arranged a vehicle and rushed Kumar, who sustained serious injuries on the head and chest, to a private hospital in Hebbal where he died. A case has been registered.

Student ends life

A PU student who wanted to be a chartered accountant committed suicide on discovering that he had failed two subjects.

V. Vineeth Kumar (19), who hails from Kerala, was a commerce student of SEA College of Engineering and Technology near K.R. Puram. His mother was away in Kerala and his father at work when he drank a poisonous substance at his home in Mahadevapura on Tuesday night.
