Customs officials caught a man for smuggling 1.5 kg gold biscuits concealed in his shoes at the Bengaluru International Airport early on Wednesday.

Shimoga resident Mohammed Zameer was caught while passing through the metal detector door at the exit point.

Zameer, who had come in on the Dubai-Bangalore-Goa flight, had disembarked in Bangalore.

Officials who caught him after the metal detector beeped, frisked him to find the gold biscuits worth Rs. 45 lakh concealed in the soles of his shoes. “We suspect he is a carrier,” an official said.
