A pilot clinical trial conducted at the HIV-AIDS laboratory of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) in Bangalore has brought hope for patients who are battling HIV-AIDS. Scientists from JNCASR, who evaluated a polyherbal formulation (PHF) for its safety and efficacy against HIV-AIDS, found that the PHF was safe for human administration. “However, under no circumstances should the PHF evaluated in the present clinical trial be considered a ‘drug’ for HIV-AIDS. The experimental data is only indicative, but not assertive of the beneficial effects,” said a press release from the institute.

  • ‘In the PHF subjects, the CD4 cell loss was remarkably low’

  • ‘The viral load in the blood remained stable without a significant increase’
