Heavy rain has been forecast for the district

There has been a slight decline in the rainfall in the district in the last 24 hours

SHIMOGA: The district administration has set up a helpline to attend to emergency situations arising out of the heavy rain, which is forecast.

People have been requested to contact the authorities concerned over phone for any emergency assistance in the event of any natural calamity or flash floods.

The phone numbers for the emergency services are: 221010 (Deputy Commissioner's office); 221077 (Shimoga Tahsildar's office); 267283 (Bhadravati Tahsildar's office); 228239 (Tirthahalli Tahsildar's office); 226074 (Sagar Tahsildar's office); 272241 (Sorab Tahsildar's office); 222239 (Shikaripur Tahsildar's office), and 221235 (Hosngar Tahsildar's office).

There has been a slight decline in the rainfall in the district in the last 24 hours. Sagar taluk recorded 27.4 mm of rainfall, which is highest, while Shimoga taluk received 1.8 mm of rainfall, which was the lowest for this period.

The rainfall in other taluks was: Bhadravati (2 mm), Tirthahalli (14.2 mm), Shikaripur (4 mm), Sorab (23 mm) and Hosnagar (15 mm).

The level of the Linganamakki Reservoir, the main feeder of the Sharavathy Hydel Project, on Saturday stood at 1,769 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. It stood at 1,749.20 feet this day last year. The reservoir received an inflow of 14497 cusecs which a discharge of 2,907.54 cusecs for power generation. The catchment area of the reservoir received 30 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The level of the Bhadra Reservoir Project on Saturday stood at 137.10 .
