The Hindu EducationPlus is back with counselling sessions

The time has come for thousands of students, passing out of Class 12 and PUC, to take their momentous first step towards their career goals and these are indeed confusing times. And so The Hindu is back with our annual career counselling and guidance sessions with a new and improved palette.

Apart from the staple — the opportunity to interact with admission officials and subject experts — we offer an aptitude and assessments test. Offered free of cost in association with our assessments partner MeritTrac, the aptitude test will help you gauge your orientations and understand what careers you're best suited for.

Nine centres

These tests, and the interactive career guidance sessions, will be held in nine centres across the State. With Bidar and Hassan as our new venue additions, the sessions are slated to be held over May 14 and 15 in Bangalore, Mysore, Udupi, Hubli, Gulbarga, Shimoga and Davangere, all centres where we met with tremendous response from the student community in previous years.

In addition, students will take home a free copy of Set Your Own Stage, a well-researched publication that presents a wide-range of expert articles charting trends, providing information and even helping you plan the next step after graduation.

This 130-page handbook offers guidance on career options ranging from pure mathematics and medical research to animation and fine arts.

It also carries articles that will help you choose a college, demystify the admission process and offers a four-step plan to improve your soft skills.

Guidance sessions

In its ninth edition, our career guidance sessions are an off-page extension of the weekly supplement, The Hindu EducationPlus. We believe that despite the information overload online, students and parents benefit tremendously from inspirational and direct interactions with specialists and subject experts. Be it queries on which branch of engineering offers the best jobs to how to go about getting a student loan, experts will answer your questions.

These career counselling sessions also provide students with an opportunity to interact with officials from the Karnataka Examinations Authority (the nodal agency that conducts the Common Entrance Test) and the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. Short presentations and extended interactive sessions will help you clear your doubts on the process of professional college admissions.

Invitation

The Hindu EducationPlus invites students, and their parents, to the programme. Details of the programme dates, venues and timings are provided in the graphic.

As the format is an interactive one, we also invite your questions for our experts through email.

Email us with your name, choice of centre and query to epkarnataka@gmail.com or call 080-22864240.
